Examples of benefits

**Mussy is the mother of a little girl.  She attended the St Marc Trade School.  She was able to purchase and resell 4 cases of hens, producing a benefit of $53 in two weeks.  Prior to the Farm, she was making only $39 a month selling food products at the local market.

**Lilyane, the mother of 4 and the sole supporter for her family, sold 4 cases of hens earning a $53 profit in two weeks.  She normally earns about $47 a month reselling food products at the local market.

**Shella is an unmarried mother with 3 children. She was unemployed but received a microloan from the Village Farm which allowed her to purchase and resell 2 cases of hens for a net benefit of $25
With our help, Voix et Actions will continue to expand and operate a "Village Farm" in Trouin.  They are working to find the best mix of pigs, goats, hens and fish that will make the Farm self-sustaining (or nearly so) while helping the men and women around Trouin improve their lives

The Farm had 355 hens in inventory at the end of May 2018.   In 45 days they will be sold at discount to the women in the village of Trouin who will sell the hens at market to realize a profit to support their families.

Pigs have always been considered the savings account of the peasantry but Pigs were absent in the locality of Trouin. In collaboration with our partners, the Farm has has re-introduced this economic activity in the region. Two "Piggeries" were constructed in 2017 to shelter the pigs.  During May 13 pigs were born, ending the month with 20 pigs in inventory.

Because Trouin is surrounded by mountains, there is a demand for seafood which can add protein to the local diet.  Voix et Actions started a tilapia project to raise fish for resale by the business women, similar to hens.  The cement pond can hold up to 500 fish once a circulating pump and power can be installed.  In the interim the pond has been stocked with 200 fish.

During 2017, Voix et Actions constructed a station with the capacity to hold 8 BOERs and 30 indigenous goats. Goat breeding on the Farm is intended to  improve the genetics of the indigenous Haitian goat.  A female Haitian goat is bred with a male from the BOER race to produce a larger offspring than normal.  After 6 months the young goat is worth more than the purchasing price of the female goat.

Meet the Voix et Actions Managers in Trouin
Picture

I am Mr. ST-YL Pierre Julio and I have been a member of Voix et Actiobs for 3 years. I'm responsible for the Hen house and I take real pride in the hen laying project.
What are your duties as a Manager?
My duties as a manager consist of making sure the project runs with order and discipline. I start with taking an order for new stock.  Then purchase food and medicine to keep the hens free from cold and fevers. After I transport the hens to Trouin in a ventilated box. In the "hen house" the hens receive water and food for proper development.
The hens lay eggs a little differently. Food is sent to Trouin and the chickens are fed food, water, along with good quality vitamins so the chickens can lay high caliber eggs.
What are your predictions for this project in the community of Trouin?
My goal is to expand the project so we can have more eggs and chickens in Trouin. Also we would like to expand the project into the neighboring towns of Trouinn, to serve the locals who have expressed interest. The locals reported they travel to Leogane which is about 1 Hour from Trouin to get eggs. However, Voix et Actions are providing a means to make eggs and chickens more accessible for the individuals of Trouin and other distant areas of Haiti.

My name is Louly Evens JEAN CHARLES, I have been an active Voix & Action member for the last four (4) years. I currently manage the Piscicultural Fishkeeping/Fish Farming project with the Director.
At the request of our collaborators in Trouin, a commune/locality of Leogane, this project has been created to increase the income generating activities in the area on the one hand and on the other to provide the local children with lacking/needed vitamins readily found from fish consumption. Implementation of the project started on 31st January 2017 by the adding the fish (on hand) in two basins having a capacity to contain 500 units each.
My duties/tasks includes the purchase, the launching, fishkeeping/fish farming and leading the sale of the fish at maturity.
This project aims to make Trouin the supplier of fish for the neighboring communities such as: Grande Savanne, Cheridan, Lompré, Café Lompré and St Étienne.

My name is Jhonson Joseph, the manager of the goat project for Dunie and Trouin.  The people from these communities have done nothing but expressing their satisfaction with this project.  They have formed associations to recruit more people from their surroundings.  The project have helped some parents in sending theirs kids to school.
Not only Voices and Actions provide the participants of the project goats, we teach them on how have a better way of living by encouraging them to have less children, to make purified water, and so on.  I have grown close to the participants I worked with.  I can say we are family.  My goal is to increase that family.  Also, my dream is for the people of Trouin and Dunie to be economically independent and self-sufficient.
